Paganini's Violin “The Cannon”
Special Note(s) for this photograph: Paganini, though he loved “The Cannon,” did not keep it in an immaculate state of preservation. Though it has very few repairs, he allowed excessive rosin to build up on its belly and the varnish to wear off to the bare wood in places. Concert violinists regularly have the edges and rib next to the neck “French polished” to help preserve and protect master instruments, though I believe Paganini preferred the look of an “old violin” while performing on stage.
