Paganini's Violin “The Cannon”
Special Note(s) for this photograph: Niccolo Paganini was said to have gambled away his “fine Nicolo Amati” the afternoon of a concert and had to borrow “The Cannon” from a “merchant from Livorno” so he could perform that evening. When Paganini went to return it after the concert, the merchant conveyed ownership of the instrument while he was still on stage saying, “Never again shall mere mortal hands touch this violin again. It is yours.”
